Five VW's with seven members cruised to Hurricane Ridge on Sunday, August 25th. It was a "fee-free" day - no entrance fees were charged. The weather was gorgeous! There were lots of visitors. We drove through the parking lot at the visitor's center and continued to the picnic area about a mile down the road. We found the same table we used last year with a tremendous view. The food was delicious and the company was even better. Not as many deer came by as last year!
After leaving the picnic area, we drove through the visitor's center again. The parking lot was full and as soon as the people saw our VW's, they took out their cameras and took pictures of us! It was just like being in a parade! Then again, I guess we were! It was amazing to see people's reactions to us. Dave said he saw a group of Asian tourists. One of them was trying to get everyone else to line up and smile. One of the group saw our VW's and her mouth dropped. Everyone in the group grabbed their cameras and started shooting our cars. Dave felt bad that he had disrupted the woman's attempt to get their picture! But, I must say, it was fun!
We stopped at a couple viewpoints on the way down. The day was wonderful and everyone had a good time! Can't wait until next year! This is a good cruise.
