"Beetles Invasion of Sequim!" This was our theme for the parade! It was the first year for us to participate in the Sequim Irrigation Festival Parade as a club. Dave won an award for second place for "Classic Car Post 1950" with his 1957 Commercial Panel Van. We "staged" on Knapman Avenue from about 9:30 until about 1:30. We had lots of time to visit with each other and watch the parade, which was about two blocks away! We were #107 in the line-up, so we were near the end. But there were lots of people along the route and they loved the bugs. We had a lot of "Love your bug!!" shouted at us! After the parade, some of us gathered at the Baja Cantina for lunch. It was a wonderful day!
We cruised to the LeMay Museum in Tacoma on Sunday, March 9th. There were five VW Bugs and 10 members. The weather was off and on rain showers. We arrived at the museum a few minutes after 12:00pm.
We were given an area on the plaza to park. This was right outside the main entrance. It couldn't have been closer! And, no charge! Many visitors looked at our bugs and took pictures. They probably thought we were part of LeMay's exhibit! The exhibit was very well done. Many bugs of distinction! A beautiful "Wedding Car". And they had a nice souvenir shop with many VW items for sale. The staff and volunteers at the LeMay Museum were very nice. They treated us so warmly and made us feel welcomed. The exhibit has been extended through May 26th (Memorial Day). This is a wonderful museum - highly recommended! After touring the museum, we had lunch at Harmon Brewing Co. & Restaurant. Very nice place and it gave us a chance to talk about what we saw! Then we headed home. |
